Museum introduces new teen program
The Birmingham Museum of Art (BMA) has introduced a new interdisciplinary program for teens who want to meet and work with professional artists, writers and performers. Student participants will also benefit from peer reviews of their artistic talents and will receive preference for summer employment opportunities at the museum. In addition, they will help plan one or two teen performances/exhibits per year. Teen BMA will follow the August-May school year and will meet the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month from 4:30 to 6:00. A full-day orientation program on a Saturday in August is required. Participants also must volunteer 3 hours per month. Application forms are available in the MBHS guidance office . The application deadline for the 2010-2011 school year is June 1. For additional information, contact Kristen Greenwood at 254-2856.

COLLEGE INFORMATION
Senior Information...
The seniors have completed a form, telling the College Advisor what scholarships they have been offered and where they plan to attend college. The guidance office will automatically send final transcripts to those colleges. (There is no charge for sending the final transcript. However, if you have not paid your fee for having transcripts sent in with college applications, please remember that this fee must be paid before you will be allowed to graduate.)
Senior Report Cards/Transcripts...
Along with final report cards, seniors will receive a copy of their transcript, which may be used for college rush purposes. This mailing is planned for early June -- as soon as final grades are available.
Summer Mailing...
During the summer, the College Advisor's office will send an important packet of information to the homes of all current juniors (rising seniors). This packet will include forms for students and parents to complete, as well as details about the college application process. Watch for this information during July.

Students who fail a course during first or second semester and need to re-take the course during summer school must see one of the counselors to get a summer-school authorization letter.
AP Scores
AP test grade reports will be mailed directly from College Board to students' homes the third week in July. Reports also will be sent to colleges that the students have designated to receive the reports.
Graduation Exams

If you receive the summer testing information, please be sure to return the confirmation letter by May 28.
