Channel 10 is provided for use by the Mountain Brook school system and the city government according to the city's franchise agreement with the cable provider, Charter Communications.  A team of school system employees, city employees, and volunteer parents provide content.  The current Channel 10 team consists of two representatives per secondary school and one representative per elementary school as designated by the local school principal, Ron Seitel serving as video specialist, Jay Higgenbotham and Butch Burkett representing SportsNet, Donna Williamson providing technical support, and Lynne Colley managing school system and city slide publication and professional development. 

 

Mountain Brook Schools’ Content

District Administrators

·         A minimum of 24 hours prior to desired publication time, email ready-for-copy content and/or pictures to channel14@mtnbrook.k12.al.us or contact Lynne Colley.

o        Keep content brief using phrases when possible.

o        Provide start date and end date for each slide.

o        Adhere to copyright laws and all Mountain Brook Board policies.

o        Provide “who”, “what”, “when”, and “where” for all event slides.

·         For video production, contact Ron Seitel.

·         Direct questions and/or special instructions to Lynne Colley, Donna Williamson, or by emailing channel10@mtnbrook.k12.al.us.  Call Donna Williamson for emergency slides.

Local School Administrators

·         Select and/or determine local school Channel 10 content on timely basis working with local school Channel 10 representative(s).

o        Keep content brief using phrases when possible.

o        Provide start date and end date for each slide.

o        Adhere to copyright laws and all Mountain Brook Board policies.

o        Provide “who”, “what”, “when”, and “where” for all event slides.

·         Monitor local school information aired on Channel 10.

Local School Channel 10 Representatives

·         Work with local school administration to determine local school-related information to air on Channel 10.

·         Login to Castnet program using secure login to create Channel 10 slide(s).

·         Enter scheduling information (play start date and end date) as well as duration (number of seconds slides should remain on screen prior to transitioning to next slide) for each individual slide.

·         Preview slide(s) for appearance, timeliness, and accuracy.

·         Submit slide(s) for CastNet Administrator, Lynne Colley to approve/publish.

·         Email channel10@mtnbrook.k12.al.us, call Lynne Colley, or call the district technology office if slides are not published within 24 hours. 

Mountain Brook City Content

·         A minimum of 3 days prior to desired publication time, email ready-for-copy content and/or pictures to channel14@mtnbrook.k12.al.us or call Lynne Colley for assistance.

o        Keep content brief using phrases when possible.

o        Begin with slide title.

o        Provide start date and end date for each slide.

o        Adhere to copyright laws.

o        Provide “who”, “what”, “when”, and “where” for all event slides.
