Denise Knopf is a certified mathematics teacher holding a Masters of Arts degree in Secondary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Denise is also a Nationally Board Certified Mathematics teacher since 2001, having renewed her certification in 2010. Her current assignment at Mountain Brook Junior High consists of 7th Grade Mathematics and 8th Grade Pre-Algebra.

 

Denise has 17 years of experience teaching in public schools in the Greater Birmingham area. She is active in various professional organizations such as the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Alabama Council of Teachers of Mathematics. As part of her participation in these organizations, Denise has had the opportunity to present workshops and training sessions locally as well as nationally. Her presentations include the Alabama Educational Technology Conference, Alabama Council of Teachers of Mathematics Fall Conferences, as well as NCTM's 81st National Convention in San Antonio, Texas.

 

Denise has served in leadership positions during her professional career. Her most recent is with the University of Alabama at Birmingham's National Alumni Society where she has served on the NAS Board of Directors as a school appointed representative for the School of Education where she also serves as the current President of the School of Education Alumni chapter.

 

Denise's passion for mathematics and science has also given her the opportunity to participate in fascinating programs during her career. As an Ace Scholarship Recipient, she was able to attend The National Math Trail Training Seminar in San Diego, California and upon her return, she was awarded a stipend to attend Space Camp : Exploring Space - The classroom connection in Huntsville, Alabama.
