The Boosterthon is handing out flip cams to teachers based on pledges. How wonderful!! These are the regulare Flip--not Flip Ultra HD. They use regualr batteries. These cameras do not have rechargeable pack so you will not plug them in usb to computer to charge them. You will just replace the batteries as needed. See below for additional information.
1. Click here for handout you might find helpful in using your boosterthon Flip and moving the videos from your flip to your windows 7 computer.
2. If you have a Flip Ultra HD, you can use this handout to copy images from your Flip Ultra to your windows XP computer and use AnyVideoConverter to convert them to a different file type that will work with MovieMaker like .avi.
3. Remember, if you want to post video from your class, you can post a quick video clip (short video clip of less than 5 minutes) to your in10sity webpage. But when you get ready to post another, you will need to remove the previous. So one video clip on your webpage at a time.
4. If you have a longer video project or multiple student projects you are wanting to post, I suggest you create a free account on SchoolTube: See information below:
Launched in 2006, SchoolTube has grown to become the nation's largest teacher moderated video sharing website, dedicated to supporting educational institutions and all of their students to broadcast, and share original videos through a web experience. Our mission is to provide educators and students a safe and fun video sharing environment to enhance their classrooms and their learning experiences. Check out MBE SchoolTube.
Click here for handout on how to register for a free schooltube account. (2011 the browser interface has changed for schooltube, new handout coming soon.)
Click here for a handout on how to upload your videos. (When you first upload you will select me as your moderator, and email me and let me know to approve your video. Once school tube verifies your identity, you will become a moderator and your videos will be live when you upload them--give them 2-3 working days to verify your identity.)
4. Your Flip comes with an audio/video cable. If you plug the little end into the port on Flip Cam labeled TV, then plug the red/yellow/white into the front of your DVD/VCR. Channel your DVD/VCR to line 2 in, then you can play video from Flip Cam through your DVD/VCR, directly to your Projector for your students to watch. A quick way to use your Flip Cam with your class--no downloading--just push play on camera.
5. **Flip video from the flip cam is mp4 which does not import to MovieMaker 2.6 (But will import directly to moviemaker live--both versions are on your school desktop). The sony cybershot and other still digitial cameras from Boosterthon last year--their video clips are in a format that will import to MovieMaker. If you want to use your Flip video clips with MovieMaker, you will have to convert the video. You can use AnyVideoConverter which you can install on school computer from R/Staff/Technology/Video Converter. The file is called: avc-free. Double click to install on your computer. Or from home, download from: http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/
In this program, you will File/Set output folder to your C drive (hopefully) and then follow 1-3 directions that appear on screen. |
