The Program for Academically Gifted Education (PAGE) in the elementary school is multi-faceted in order to meet the needs of all students. All students receive services through opportunities such as field trips, assembly programs, speakers, fine arts/cultural arts programs and other opportunities, which vary from year to year. Many students receive services in the regular classroom with the opportunity to do more challenging work and go beyond what other students may be doing. A few students receive services directly from the PAGE teacher at some time in their elementary career. These students are referred to the Child Study Team for consideration. They may be referred by the classroom teacher, special area teacher, parent, him/herself or any other knowledgeable person. The Child Study Team receives referrals and looks at multiple criteria (test scores, grades, work samples, characteristics) to determine if the student is eligible to receive these services. Eligibility is for a specified period of time within a school year and is reassessed each year. Parents are notified of referrals nd eligibility decisions. The classroom teacher and PAGE teacher work together to determine the best program for each child.
