Alabama High School Graduation Exam

·          State-mandated, criterion-referenced achievement test; based on pre-determined standards

·          Students take the test for the first time in grade 10 or end-of-course for math and science (Algebra I/Biology)

·          Total of five additional opportunities to pass the test (spring 11th, summer 11th-12th, fall 12th, winter 12th, spring 12th)

·          Assesses students’ mastery of content in reading, language, mathematics, science and social studies

·          Required for graduation from high school
