The use of technology to engage students is not new to Mountain Brook Schools. During the past 17 years, teachers have been encouraged to use web pages to communicate with parents and post additional learning resources for students. Since spring 2009, we have been working to fully implement a learning management system (LMS) or virtual learning environment (VLE) called Moodle. More and more of our teachers in Grades 5-12 are taking advantage of these and other online resources daily. The blend of face-to-face instruction with the use of these electronic "e" resources provides students with an online experience that resembles experiences that they may encounter as they continue their formal and informal learning after graduation.
Mountain Brook is a technology savvy community. Many of our families take advantage of online services such as, e-commerce and e-banking on a regular basis. Some have attended an e-school to further their education by obtaining additional degrees through online undergraduate, graduate, and/or doctoral programs.
The Mountain Brook Schools staff is committed to providing effective, challenging, and engaging work for students within or outside the brick and mortar walls of our schools for 180 days of the year! A Mountain Brook Schools eSchool day is no exception. As in e-commerce and e-banking, eSchool isn’t about the “work,” it is about the method of delivery.
