We have created a PowerPoint as a resource for employees regarding substance abuse and how it may impact students, employees and family members.  The link is below on this page.

 

We want to call your attention to resources available to you should you or anyone in your family have difficulties with substance abuse.

 

  • Employee Assistance Program. This program is a free and confidential service offered to all our employees and their family members.  
  • United Way Information and Referral Center / 211 Center.  The United Way maintains a referral service for a range of community resources, including those related to substance abuse.  You may reach this service by calling (205) 323-0000 or 211 on your phone.
  • The Crisis Center offers telephone support and referral for those dealing with substance abuse problems, suicidal feelings, and other mental health matters.  This service is available 24 hours a day at (205) 323-7777.
  • UAB Substance Abuse Programs.  
  • Aletheia House.  Provides drug abuse treatment and prevention through outpatient and residential services.  Call (205) 324-6502
  • Local Emergency Rooms.  In some cases, severe and acute problems with substance abuse require emergency intervention.  The following hospitals offer 24 hour emergency department services.
