Overview of Purchasing Apps with School Funds:

Through the Volume Purchasing Program, $100.00 is the smallest amount of an iTunes voucher. Each program facilitator (coordinator) will fill out a requisition for the bookkeeper at the local school for the amount needed and generally for whom the apps are being purchased--example: $100.00: $50.00 for math, $50.00 for kindergarten, etc. The bookkeeper will generate a PO for Apple that will be sent to the authorized purchaser (District Technology Director-Donna) to buy the vouchers from Apple. The amount of PO will be taken from a designated local school account.

As the staff member requests an app via a requisition, the local school bookkeeper will do a journal to move the amount from each teacher's account back to the coordinator or designated local account. The coordinator will log in as the program facilitator to the Apps Store  Volume Purchase Program site: ( https://volume.itunes.apple.com/us/store/ ) and use the voucher to purchase the app for the staff member.

Then the coordinator will log out of Apps Store Volume Purchasing stie and log in to iTunes on the coordinator's computer as a generic school staff member's iTunes account and redeem the voucher for the staff member. Then the coordinator will email the staff member the generic school iTune's account login and password.

The staff member will go to the apps store on his/her iPad and log in as the generic account sent by the coordinator and purchase the app. The staff member will see the message that the app has already been purchased, and he/she will be prompted to download for free. The staff member will download the app to the iPad for free.

Once the $100.00 voucher is spent, the program facilitator (coordinator) may do a requisition with the local bookkeeper for another $100.00 voucher to be purchased by authorized purchaser (Donna). And the process begins again. Click here to access the district ipad site.
