With the increasing popularity of the “I”tools (iPad and iTouch) or similar Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Linux, and/or Android devices, the Mountain Brook Schools technology department has developed guidelines for the safe, effective, and financially responsible use of the devices themselves and the purchase of educational apps. Please be aware, that school funds include public and private monies and purchases of any kind must be in accordance with the local, state, and federal purchasing guidelines.
As with all technology related local school or school district purchases, to receive the required support, assistance, and access, any type of “personal/mobile” WiFi or 4G computing device should be approved by the technology department prior to purchase.
Mountain Brook Schools are still in the pilot stage. MBS is currently piloting as a tool for administrators and is currently piloting a one to one initiative in three schools with a small group of students; two schools have an iPad in every classroom, and there are carts avaialble for checkout in several schools.
