Holly M. Martin, M.Ed.

Holly Martin is the Staff Development Specialist at Mountain Brook Junior High.  She has a passion for investing in her colleagues in an effort to support them in implementing innovative and creative instructional strategies that will ultimately impact student learning in profound ways.  As the Staff Development Specialist she seeks to serve teachers and to encourage, embolden, and enable them to grow in their craft and to become leaders within the school and across the district.

Holly began her career at Homewood High School where she spent four years teaching a number of history courses.  After leaving Homewood, she taught American Studies, a cross-curricular and project-based learning course, and Advanced History at Mountain Brook High School for eight years.  During her tenure at Mountain Brook High School, she was named Teacher of the Year (2014) at the school level, and Secondary Teacher of the Year (2014) at the district level.

Holly is very active in professional learning.  She is a member of Learning Forward, and has presented at numerous conferences across the state.  In addition, she serves as the mentor trainer for the school district, and is a part of the design team for LEAD; a program that builds capacity in teachers to "lead where they are." Holly has an abiding desire to craft professional learning experiences for teachers that are relevant, authentic, collaborative, innovative, and impactful to student learning and achievement.
