Clinton Taylor Scholarship

The Clinton Taylor Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by the law firm of Burr & Forman, is given to the student on the debate team who best embodies the hard work, dedication, team spirit, and strong character that Clinton Taylor demonstrated while being a leader on the Mountain Brook debate team. His parents, George and Honey Taylor, have been active volunteers for the program over the years and generously created the scholarship in Clinton's name to further support what was their son's greatest passion. During Clinton's time on the team, he won numerous awards and was an integral team member due to his charitable nature combined with his adept debate skills. The scholarship rewards those Mountain Brook students who are deserving of carrying on Clinton's legacy.
Congratulations to this year's winner, Sophia Self!
This is Sophia's third year on the team. She's a rising sophomore and plans to continue learning all she can about Public Forum debate. Reliable and self-disciplined, Sophia is a natural team leader. During her time on the team, Sophia served as the Mountain Brook Junior High Debate Team Captain. Sophia has won a number of awards and recognitions related to her activities on the team, and she regularly mentors junior high team members when she isn't actively competing at tournaments.
