Miss Polly Harper, M Ed
Miss Harper grew up in Montgomery. She loves to read, work in her yard, and spend time at Lake Martin. Miss Harper attended Birmingham-Southern College where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in English. In 1995, she graduated from Auburn University with a teaching certificate in the area of Early Childhood Education. After working as a camp counselor at Falling Creek Camp in North Carolina and then teaching reading and math to struggling students in Charleston, South Carolina, Miss Harper returned home to Alabama. She graduated in 1998 from UAB with her Master’s degree in Collaborative Education.
Miss Harper has worked as a special education assistant at Berry Middle School in Hoover, a self-contained special education teacher at Homewood Middle School, and a special education teacher for emotionally disabled students at R. F. Bumpus Middle School. In 2004, Miss Harper joined the Cherokee Bend team as a special education teacher working with students in grades K-3. In 2012, she began her new role of Academic Intervention Teacher and works with students in all grade levels.
