Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Laura Witcher
The 2020-2021 school year will by Laura Witcher’s eighth school year as the Counselor at Cherokee Bend and 24th school year working in education, counseling, and mental health. However, it is with sadness that Mrs. Witcher can not be with our students, teachers, staff, and families to start this school year due to health concerns.
While gone, Mrs. Witcher is so pleased that our school has Ms. Lindsey Scoggins to teach, care for, and counsel our students. Mrs. Witcher misses being at Cherokee Bend and working with our students. In the meantime, please reach out to Counselor Ms. Scoggins for any needs you may have regarding counseling. Miss Scoggins has written a little about herself below:
My name is Lindsey Scoggins, and my daughter Katherine (3) and our dog Shug are excited to have moved back home to Birmingham. I graduated with my undergraduate degree in Child and Family Studies from American Public University System while working in a preschool setting with a focus on children with special needs. After that I received my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University in which I completed my internship at The Carolina Center for Behavioral Interventions with a focus on working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. After graduation I went to work for the S.C. Department of Mental Health in Spartanburg and was a School Based Counselor that would provide individual, family and group therapy to students in the school setting. I worked at several different schools and gained experience in meeting a variety of therapeutic needs. I feel so lucky to have landed at Cherokee Bend and will do my best to meet the children’s, the families and the school's needs until Mrs. Witcher’s return!
If you would like to contact Ms. Scoggins, please call (205) 871-3595.
