Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Kristin Musso

Hello and welcome to English 9 at MBJH!

I cannot wait to meet everyone!  About me:

I am beginning my seventh year in education while starting my third year at Mountain Brook Junior High. I grew up in Hoover, Alabama, and graduated from Spain Park High School. After high school, I attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe on a cheerleading scholarship. I then transferred and graduated from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations with a minor in English.  I then continued my education and received my Master’s degree in Secondary Education specializing in English.

I began my teaching career at Calera High School where I taught English 9, English 10, English 11, and English 12 - Advanced and College Prep courses.  I was also the head cheerleading coach for three years taking my cheer squad to UCA Nationals where they placed 3rd in the Nation.  I then began teaching at Mountain Brook Junior High in the 2021-2022 school year as an English 9 teacher for both Advanced and College Prep courses.

I currently live in Vestavia Hills, Alabama with my family.  My husband and I have three children: David Henry (7), Evelyn James (3), and Rory (1).  In my spare time I enjoy visiting family and friends, spending time outdoors, reading and running, and watching my kids enjoy their pastimes.

I am very excited for this school year! The transition from the junior high to the high school can be a bit overwhelming, but I prepare my students for the upcoming school year and make it as smooth as possible. One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching my students grow and become the best version of themselves!
