Mrs. Downey is excited to be teaching third grade this year! She began her journey with her BWF family last year in fourth grade, after moving from Nashville, where she was a second grade teacher. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Belmont University and later completed her Master of Education in Instructional Practice (K-5 and ESL). Mrs. Downey loves building strong relationships within her class to empower students as kind classmates, future leaders in our community, and lifelong learners. She can’t wait to learn, explore, and grow in new ways with her third grade students this year!

In honor of teaching third grade for her third full year of teaching, here's three fun facts about Mrs. Downey:

1. She received a Minor in Music Business in college and worked for the Country Music Association in Nashville. She had so much fun working on the red carpet for the CMA Awards!

2. She lived in the country of Sweden in summer 2016 while studying abroad.

3. She recently became an aunt to the cutest nephew!
