Student Poetry on Display in Community

  • Wednesday, September 6, 2023 – Six Crestline Elementary sixth-grade students currently have their poetry on display in front of Church Street Coffee & Books. Evelyn Shapshak, Teddy Dionne, John Clark Newman, Kate Bright, Mirabella Coshatt, and Lexie Whatley wrote memoir poems inspired by Jacqueline Woodson’s Brown Girl Dreaming.

“Church Street Coffee and Books is a great community partner and offered to display several poems in their shop, highlighting those with exceptional use of imagery and sensory details,” Heather Phillips, a Crestline sixth-grade Language Arts teacher said. “We encourage everyone to grab a cup of coffee and read some nostalgic childhood poems penned by our budding poets.”

The poetry will remain up until the end of September.
