Volleyball Reclaims 6A State Championship

Wednesday, November 1, 2023 – For the 3rd time in four years, the Mountain Brook Spartans are bringing the 6A girls volleyball state championship trophy back to Mountain Brook High School! The Spartans defeated Saraland in four sets (25-15, 25-13, 26-28, 25-15) on Wednesday afternoon in Bill Harris Arena at the Birmingham Crossplex.
“This means so much because of these 14 girls,” head coach Mattie Gardner said. “They were 100-percent bought in from July 5 when we started until November 1 when we finished the job.”
For the Spartans, Alice Garzon, Ella Kate Wright, and Hannah Parant were named to the state tournament team with Parant taking home the MVP honors.This is the 7th state championship in MBHS volleyball program history and the 187th state championship among all sports in school history.
