This was a historic season for the program as the Spartan wrestlers captured their second consecutive duals state championship, won sectionals for the first time in program history and capped it off bringing home the traditional title.

“I am so proud of Coach Ransom and our guys,” Mountain Brook Athletic Director Andy Urban said. “Their determination and buy-in to coaching and discipline all season long made this championship run possible.”

Head Coach Justin Ransom was fired up to lead the program and his guys through their historic season.

“We always talk about being the hunters,” Ransom said. “We work year-round to put ourselves in a position to be successful and leave it all on the mat. Our guys did that and the beauty of a team sport is that despite not having a top finisher, these guys worked together to come away with a team title and make history by having so many state finalists and guys who placed. I am so proud.”

The state championship is Mountain Brook’s 192nd title in school history and sixth this school year (volleyball, boys cross country, girls cross country, girls indoor track, wrestling duals, wrestling traditional).
