Robotics Program State Results

  • Wednesday, February 21, 2024 – This year the Mountain Brook Schools Robotics teams showed out at the VEX IQ Alabama State Robotics Tournament that took place February 16-17 at Auburn University. Of nearly 300 elementary and 300 middle school teams, only 40 teams from elementary and 40 teams from the middle school divisions were selected to compete at the state tournament.

    Mountain Brook Junior High had eight teams qualify to compete, which was the largest number of teams from any school in the state. Brookwood Forest had three teams qualify; Crestline Elementary had three teams qualify, and Cherokee Bend had one team qualify. 

    Out of the 40 teams (per division) that competed at the state tournament, only 13 bids (per division) were awarded to the VEX IQ Worlds Robotics Tournament that will take place in Dallas, May 1-3. There, Mountain Brook-based teams will compete against robotics teams from around the globe! Below are the awards and bids which were given out.

    Middle School Division

    • Teamwork Champions – Teams B (Blue Wolves) & W (The Wingmen)

    • 3rd Place Teamwork – Team A (Nutria Rats)

    • Think Award – Team G 

    • Amaze Award – Team W (The Wingmen)

    • Build Award – Team Y (31337X)

    • Bid to Worlds from high skills score – Teams E (Team Rocket) & Z (The Return of the Zed)

    Elementary School Division

    • Amaze Award – BWF Team 3701E (The Banana Split)

    • Bid to Worlds from high skills score – Cherokee Bend Team Team 3707A (Mecha Geckos)

    • Teamwork and building awards were also bestowed to other Mountain Brook-based teams.

    Special congratulations to Addison Hardee as she was awarded “Volunteer of the Year!”
