State Champions: Tennis Teams Remain at the Top

  • Monday, April 29, 2024 – The Mountain Brook boys and girls varsity tennis teams both captured the 6A state championship trophy last week in Mobile at the AHSAA state championship tennis tournament.

    The girls came back to win every match necessary in order to secure their 7th consecutive championship and 33rd state title in program history. They edged out St. Paul’s 72-69. The boys remained on top of 6A as they repeated as team champions (2023 and 2024). Also for the second straight year, the boys won eight out of the nine individual state championships to claim the 28th team state championship in program history.

    Mountain Brook Schools athletics adding these two titles brings the state championship count to 194 across all programs in school history. This school year alone, Spartan teams have won eight state championships: boys cross country, girls cross country, volleyball, wrestling (duals), wrestling (traditional), girls indoor track, boys tennis, and girls tennis.
