MBHS Celebrates 57th Graduating Class

  • Wednesday, May 22, 2024 – Members of Mountain Brook High School’s 57th graduating class walked across the stage inside the Pete Hanna Center on the campus of Samford University on Tuesday evening. A total of 318 graduates received their diploma and are on their way to the next chapter of their lives.

“I could tell you that they are strong academically, I could tell you their ACT composite scores, but their character and the personality they’ve brought to school is what I’m going to remember about this senior class,” MBHS Principal Carrie Busby said. “They’re special. They have made me feel proud to be here.”

As for the ceremony itself, the graduates proceeded in to the tune of ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ before the Mountain Brook Symphonic Winds performed the national anthem. Lauren Weekes, Jackson Short and Branum Lloyd addressed their classmates as part of a series of speeches. Then, the MBHS Chamber Choir performed “And So It Goes” by Billy Joel before the school’s administrators distributed each diploma. Ella Lee led the graduates in their Alma Mater to conclude the ceremony.

The breakdown of the graduating class is as follows:

    • 318 graduates

    Of the college-bound graduates:

    • 57 colleges and universities represented

    • 25 states represeted

    The most popular colleges are:

    • Auburn (88)

    • Alabama (86)

    • Mississippi (25)
