June Board Meeting Recap

  • Tuesday, June 11, 2024 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education met Monday, June 10 at the Charles Mason Building (Board of Education) for the district’s monthly board meeting. Below is a rundown of the meeting:
    Board members present: Jeffrey Brewer, Nicky Barnes, Anna Comer and Daniel Odrezin.

    Board Meeting Agenda

    The meeting opened by approving minutes from the last board meeting.

    Reports to the Board:

    MBS Chief School Financial Officer, Kari Austin, presented board members with the district’s monthly financial statements, which were unanimously approved. Finally, MBS Facilities Director, Tommy Prewitt, presented the monthly facilities update.

    Old business:

    New business:

    • The board unanimously approved the latest personnel recommendations and unanimously approved miscellaneous items as surplus so that they can be discarded/donated/sold.

    • Policy J-51 regarding Student/Guardian Complaints and Grievances was tabled for one month for community review and input.

    • Policy I-7 regarding Selection and Reconsideration Policy was tabled for one month for community review and input.

    June announcements: 

    • The MBS Learning Conference is taking place June 11-12 at Mountain Brook High School.

    • The next Board Meeting will take place on Monday, July 15th at 3:30 p.m. at the Charles Mason Building (Board of Education) with the work session starting at 2:30 p.m.
