SAT – Scholastic Aptitude Test
· Compares individuals and groups with a national norming group
· Assesses critical reading, mathematical reasoning and writing abilities important for academic performance in college
· Used to compare student performance in similar schools/school systems (socio-economic, size, etc.)
· Used to plan college selection
Students can take the new SAT starting March 2016. It will replace the current SAT and be offered throughout the school year. Most students in the class of 2017 will take the new SAT and so will students in the class of 2018 and later.
Students often take the SAT in the spring of 11th grade and again in the fall of 12th grade.
