In accordance with the Alabama School Code, the superintendent of schools and the custodian of funds must be bonded in an amount fixed by the State Superintendent of Education by a reputable surety company authorized to do business in Alabama.  A certified copy of such bond shall be placed on file with the State Department of Education.

    The superintendent of schools shall be responsible for securing surety bonds for all employees of the school district who are charged with the custody and/or responsibility for handling school funds.
