Alaina Long (Week of 11/28/2022)

Sport(s): MBHS Varsity Swim Team (9-12), Lifetime Swim Association Club Team (10-12), MBHS Varsity Volleyball (9th)
Academic Highlights: Alaina has a 3.9 GPA.  She has her Spanish Seal of Biliteracy and is a recipient of the the John Walden Trigg IV award.  She is an MBHS Ambassador, National Honor Society Member, FBLA member,and Key Club member.  Alaina is also an active member at Redeemer Community Church, leader of a small girls' Bible Study and a member of the new LEAD team for high schoolers.
Athletic Highlights:  Alaina is Captain of the MBHS Varsity Swim Team.  She is a state qualifier in multiple evens, including the 100 breaststroke, 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke, 4x100 freestyle relay.  She was a member of the 7A State Champion for Varsity Volleyball (9th) and AAU Nationals Bronze Medal Winner for Southern Performance Volleyball Club (9th).

Where do you see your academic future?  I am hoping to pursue a Doctorate in Certified Nurse Anesthesia at my future university.
Where do you see your athletic future?  I hope to continue to swim no matter what my next step past high school is.  Swimming will always be an important aspect of my life, so I could easily see myself joining a club team and staying involved in the sport throughout college.
What is your favorite subject?  My favorite subject is Anatomy because it is so hands-on.  Being able to see all the parts of the body and fully understand how the different parts work together is fascinating to me.
What music do you listen to most?  I listen to various genres of music, but my favorites are probably country and pop.  Recently, I have been very into ABBA, Coldplay, Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney.
Other information you want us to know:  Play piano at old Avondale Firehouse.  I have been a swim coach for ages 4-15 at Country Club of Birmingham the past two summers.  My club swim team participates in the Dance Jam class offered at Lifetime every Wednesday for team bonding and fun outside of the pool.

Where do you see your academic future?  I am attending Auburn University starting in August of 2023.  I plan to attend for 4 years and major in Exercise Science.  After college, I want to get into Physical Therapy school.  Then I want to become a Physical Therapist and own my own company.
Where do you see your athletic future?  In college I plan to keep playing volleyball for fun!  I would like to do intramurals for volleyball.
What is your favorite subject?  My favorite subject in school right now is Economics because I like learning about how the money and market of the world is constantly changing.

Where do you see your academic future?  I see myself studying Biology on a pre-med track.  My goal is to go to medical school and become a trauma surgeon.
