Mrs. Amanda Dillard

My name is Amanda Dillard and I am excited to be working at Mountain Brook Junior High for my third year!

This will be my eleventh year of teaching and working in the field of Special Education. I grew up in Georgia, where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from the University of West Georgia in 2008. I went on to earn my Master’s Degree in Collaborative Special Education, also from the University of West Georgia, in 2010. I spent four years working in a self-contained classroom at Heard County Elementary School in Franklin, GA. I went on to work as a collaborative teacher at Heard County Middle School for a little over three years. During my time at HCMS, I served as the head of the Special Education Department. I also had the honor of being chosen as the HCMS 2015 Teacher of the Year as well as being named the 2015 Teacher of the Year for the Heard County School System. In the Fall of 2015, my family relocated to Birmingham due to an opportunity my husband received. For the remainder of the 2015-2016 school year, I worked at Pinson Valley High School as a collaborative teacher. I enjoyed working at MBJH the last three years and I am excited to be back on board for another fantastic year! I have a passion for the work I do and I truly believe that all students can achieve high levels of learning and be successful in life.

I met my husband in college and we were married in 2011. We have two sons and as a family we enjoy having adventures around Birmingham. We have especially enjoyed the Birmingham Zoo!
