Mrs. Mattie Gardner

Mrs. Gardner loves being a member of Mountain Brook High School's teaching faculty and coaching staff!

As a lover of storytelling, she loves teaching both American and World Literature!

Mrs. Gardner graduated from Samford University summa cum laude and won the award for Highest Academic Achievement in Secondary Education as well as Most Promise to be a Teacher Leader. Although she loves her Samford Bulldogs, she can also say, "Roll Tide!" as she has earned her Master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama.

While at Samford University, Mrs. Gardner played four years of Division One volleyball serving as captain for two seasons. Mrs. Gardner served as the head coach of the 9th grade volleyball team during the 2017-2018 season, the JV head coach for the 2018-2019 volleyball season, and the assistant varsity coach for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons winning 2 State Championship titles. She now serves as the varsity volleyball head coach. The team won their third consecutive State Championship during the 2021-2022 season and finished in the state semi-finals for the 2022-2023 season!

When Mrs. Gardner is not teaching or coaching, she enjoys hiking with her husband and dog and cheering on the Carolina Panthers.
