Vickie Nichols is in her first year of teaching at Mountain Brook High School. She teaches Physical Education classes and is the Varsity volleyball coach.
Before coming to Mountain Brook, Vickie most recently returned from Quito, Ecuador where she was teaching and coaching in an International school. Vickie has many years of experience teaching & coaching in award winning schools in North Alabama and the Birmingham area having worked at Hoover high school, Brocks Gap Intermediate, Oak Mountain middle school, and Samford University. In addition, Coach Nichols has led and coached club teams, Junior college, and NCAA Division I volleyball at Samford University, where she led the team to multiple conference tournament appearances and to it's first victories against SEC schools.
Vickie is a native of Florence, Alabama and was a three-sport athlete at Bradshaw High School. She received a volleyball scholarship to Mississippi State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. She also obtained a Master's of Education in Physical Education from the University of North Alabama. During her time at MSU, she was team captain in Junior & Senior years and was named to the Academic All-SEC Team. She also served as FCA President, and competed internationally with Athletes in Action.
She and her husband have been married 29 years and they have four birth children and five adopted children (from Ukraine).
Coach Nichols is passionate about teaching and coaching volleyball and creating positive relationships and experiences for students. Her goal is to impact student-athletes on and off-court, and she is excited to continue our proud tradition. She is a competitor, motivator, team-player, dedicated teacher, an experienced and knowledgeable coach, and she loves investing in young people.
