Vickie Nichols


Vickie Nichols is entering her 4th season at Mountain Brook High School (127-36 record at MBHS). In 2017 and 2018, the Spartans advanced to the final four of the Elite 8 State Tournament.  In 2019 the Spartans won the 7A State Championship and set a school record for wins finishing 59-7. Nichols was named 2019 Coach of the Year. Before coming to Mountain Brook, Vickie returned from Quito, Ecuador where she taught and coached in an International Christian School. She has experience coaching at the high school and collegiate levels with stops at Northwest Shoals Community College, Samford University, Hoover High School, Oak Mountain, and Hazlewood High School. Vickie is a native of Florence, Alabama and was a three-sport athlete at Bradshaw High School. She played collegiate volleyball at Mississippi State University where she earned her B.S. in Physical Education. During her time at MSU, she was team captain her junior and senior years and was named to the Academic All-SEC Team all 4 years. She also served as FCA President, and competed internationally with Athletes in Action. Coach Nichols earned her Master’s in Education from the University of North Alabama. Vickie and her husband, Chris, have been married 32 years and have 9 children and 2 grandchildren.
