• The Creative Writing Club is an offshoot of the Creative Writing program at Mountain Brook Junior High School. The purpose of the club is to provide a place for writers to share and express their writing. Students share pieces they have written as well as provide feedback to other writers in the club.

The Creative Writing program at Mountain Brook Junior High serves approximately 80- 100 students per year and students in the program write their own published manuscript during the period of one semester.  The program also provides an outlet for students to read their pieces at an Open Mike night every semester. In the spring, this event is coupled with the Fine Arts night which also hosts the other arts in the school such as art, drama, music, and band. The class also hosts special speakers of local published writers and also award winning authors.

Encouraging students to continue to write and express themselves is the main purpose of the program. Please see Dr. Beenken's webpage on the MBJH website for more information on the creative writing program at Mountain Brook Junior High School.
