Mrs. Kristin Martin

Kristin Martin will be teaching Spanish this year at Mountain Brook Junior High School. This will be her ninth year as a Spanish teacher but first year at Mountain Brook Junior High. She received a B.A. from the University of South Alabama in 2010 with a double major in Spanish and Latin American Studies. In 2008 she spent her summer studying at University of Veracruz in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico while living with a local family.

Kristin is the recipient of the 2012 Promising New Foreign Language Teacher award for AAFLT (Alabama Association of Foreign Language Teachers), which is currently called AWLA. She is active in the Alabama World Languages Association and an active participant in professional development opportunities. Languages and cultures have long captured her curiosity, and she is thrilled to be given the chance to share what she has learned. It is her goal to inspire students to be inquisitive, not only about speaking Spanish, but also the affect they may have with this skill to reach out to do good in a world full of differences.

In her spare time Kristin enjoys spending time with her husband and dogs. She is looking forward to a great year at MBJH!
