Degrees and Certifications:
Rachel Doggett is eager to begin this year teaching kindergarten at Cherokee Bend! She is originally from Richmond, VA and graduated from Longwood University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and 6-8 Science Education. She taught fifth grade in Richmond before moving to Birmingham two years ago, where she first started as a Special Education Aide at Cherokee Bend. Last year, she began teaching Kindergarten and absolutely fell in love with teaching the littles! Teaching the whole child is what she believes in, which means teaching social emotional learning along with academics. Last summer Miss Doggett went to Denver to become certified in Social Emotional Learning and Facilitation, and this summer she completed a training focused on yoga and mindfulness for children. She is very excited to share what she has learned and use it in the classroom!
When Miss Doggett is not at school, she enjoys listening to music, hiking, reading, and doing yoga. She is a Certified Yoga Teacher and currently working towards her children's yoga teacher certification. She also enjoys traveling with her fiance, Tranum Fitzpatrick. They are planning their wedding for next summer in Big Sky, Montana, which is one of their favorite places to go skiing, hiking, fishing, and horseback riding. Miss Doggett loves the outdoors and loves finding ways to bring the classroom outside or incorporating her passions into the classroom. She is so thrilled to start this school year and can't wait to welcome our new kindergartners to The Bend!
