Degrees and Certifications:

Sydney Dismukes (formerly Sydney Sneed) is thrilled to begin her third year of teaching Spanish at Mountain Brook Junior High School. She graduated with honors from Auburn University with a B.A. in Spanish. She also studied at la Universidad Nebrija in Madrid, Spain, and worked for many years as a tutor and translator for various non-profit organizations benefitting Hispanic immigrants. Currently, Mrs. Dismukes is working on her master's degree in Spanish and ESL education.

As a Spanish teacher, her goal is to provide students with a well-rounded education that allows them to develop the four ACTFL communication skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in addition to forming connections with target cultures. She hopes to instill in each student a spirit of understanding and respect for the Spanish language and the rich Hispanic culture that is quickly becoming an integral part of American society.
