Mr. Dustin Day
This year, Mr. Day will be teaching Spanish 2 and Spanish 2 Advanced at Mountain Brook Junior High School. Before coming to Mountain Brook, Mr. Day graduated from the University of North Alabama in 2019 with a B.A. Ed. in Spanish Literature and Culture, along with a minor in Global Studies. During his undergraduate time, Mr. Day had the opportunity to study abroad in Salamanca, Spain, as well as work as a camp counselor at a full-immersion Spanish camp in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Upon graduation, he began his teaching career at Sylacauga High School, where he spent two years working on his Master's degree in teaching English to speakers of other languages, with research focused on methods of second language acquisition.
Along with being excited about taking part in another year at MBJH, Mr. Day focuses on what it means to be a learner and lover of all languages and cultures in- and outside the classroom. During each course, the students will cover areas of communication, culture, communities, connections, and comparisons that help them better understand the world in which they live.
