Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs.Trimm is a veteran teacher of 30 years. She is a two-time graduate of the University of Alabama earning a BS in Secondary Education and an MFA in Creative Writing. In 2002 she was recognized by the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts (NFAA) as their national teacher of the year, which brought her to the attention of Birmingham Magazine, who recognized her in their "Women Who Are Making a Difference" edition. Mrs. Trimm is a 2014 Performance Award Winner for Mountain Brook City Schools. This year is her 14th at the Brook. Mrs.Trimm also teaches creative writing youth camps for Samford Academy of the Arts and is the founder of Alabama Writers Connect. In 2010 she earned her National Board Certification in Language Arts. Mrs. Trimm has a great passion for reading and writing, and her poetry, fiction, and feature articles have won contests and been published in various magazines and newspapers across the country. Prior to joining the faculty at Mountain Brook High School, Mrs. Trimm served as chair of the creative writing department at the Alabama School of Fine Arts and principal at Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy in Flagstaff, Arizona.Mrs. Trimm has many stories to tell, and if her students do their work promptly and well, she just might tell you a story on a rainy Friday. Because, according to the Hopi, the one who tells the stories rules the world.
