Wanda Burns

I would like to welcome you to the Advanced Placement Calculus classes at MBHS, and I am looking forward to another successful but hard-working year. I have taught for 41 years, 39 years in AP Calculus, and I am an AP Calculus Reader.  I have high expectations for my students, both in class and on the AP exam that is administered in May. I will also prepare you for your college course of study and urge you to keep all of your high school calculus work for a reference in college.

In my calculus classes, I will be using the TI-Nspire CAS graphing calculator, and I will be presenting this calculator on the board in class.  It is a computer algebra system (CAS) which I strongly recommend for the class and the AP exam.  Since this is the calculator that I am using, I am able to troubleshoot some problems on this calculator.  You may use any calculator from the list on my web page; however, I may not be able to assist you in using it.

MBHS AP CALCULUS AB & BC STUDENTS for school year 2021-22

The summer project is required for both classes of students.  AB and BC Calculus students will be tested on it implicitly beginning with the test on Section B and throughout the school year.

  • Be sure to read the directions carefully and print the sufficient graph paper needed for the appropriate parts.
  • Be sure that you have a College Board approved calculator.  The list is also on my web page.
  • Your test calendar (School Week Calendar) and daily assignments (Daily Baby Pages) are ready for your perusal and printing.  There are both AB and BC versions of each.
  • There is a form (Personal Information) that needs to be printed, completed, and brought the first day of school OR during your get acquainted meeting with me (if that occurs before the first day of school).
  • You will need a binder for Baby (your workbook) (at least a 3” binder) the first day of school.
