Wanda Burns

I would like to welcome you to the Advanced Placement Calculus classes at MBHS, and I am looking forward to another successful but hard-working year. I have taught for 40 years, 38 years in AP Calculus, and I am an AP Calculus Reader.  I have high expectations for my students, both in class and on the AP exam that is administered in May. I will also prepare you for your college course of study and urge you to keep all of your high school calculus work for a reference in college.
In my calculus classes, I will be using the TI-Nspire CAS graphing calculator, and I will be presenting this calculator on the board in class.  It is a computer algebra system (CAS) which I strongly recommend for the class and the AP exam.  Since this is the calculator that I am using, I am able to troubleshoot some problems on this calculator.  You may use any calculator from the list on my web page; however, I may not be able to assist you in using it.

***  SCHOOL WEEK CALENDARS have been revised for school opening on 8-20-2020
MBHS AP CALCULUS AB & BC STUDENTS for school year 2020-2021

The summer project is required for both classes of students.  BC Calculus students will be tested on it implicitly beginning with the test on Section B and throughout the school year.  AB Calculus students will be tested on it explicitly during the first two weeks of school and throughout the school year.

  • Be sure to read the directions carefully and print the sufficient graph paper needed for the appropriate parts.
  • Be sure that you have a College Board approved calculator.  The list is also on my web page.
  • There are also two forms that need to be printed, completed, and brought the first day of school.  Due to COVID-19 concerns, we will postpone get acquainted meetings for now.  However, complete the two forms - personal information and parent confirmation - for the first day of school.
  • You will need a binder for Baby (your workbook) (at least a 3” binder) the first day of school.
