ART FORMS 2019

ART FORMS ENTRY FORM 

Art Forms is the annual fine arts competition presented by the Junior Spartan PTO. Open to all MBJH students, art can be entered in the following categories: literary, visual and performing arts (more specific descriptions below). A panel of volunteer judges evaluate student works according to their individual area of expertise. Entries in the literary and visual arts categories will be displayed at the 2019 Art Forms Showcase on Friday, March 8.

 

Categories:

□ LITERARY: any form of creative writing including but not limited to poetry, essays, short stories, other

□ VISUAL: any form of visual or applied art including but not limited to ceramics, drawing, painting, sketch, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video, filmmaking, architecture, industrial design, graphic design, fashion design, interior design, decorative art, other

□ PERFORMING: music, dance, dramatical interpretation, other

 

Program Cover and Ticket Design Contest:

Anyone interested in submitting a design (drawing, painting, sketch, or graphic design) for use on the program cover and Showcase tickets should have their design complete and ready to submit at school by 3:00 pm on February 19. Details on the location for submissions will be included in next week's Art Forms update. The final print space for the program is 4.25 inches wide by 11 inches tall, and should be considered in your design. The winner of the contest will receive one of the coveted glass egg awards at the 2019 Art Forms Showcase on Friday, March 8.

 

Important Dates:

February 13: deadline to submit entry form to the front desk by 3:00 pm.   *$10.00 entry fee is payable via the online link or by check made payable to the Junior Spartan PTO

February 19: deadline to submit program cover and ticketing designs for contest, 3:00 pm

February 22: performing arts only = deadline to submit rough / cell phone video, by midnight (for use to format the order for the final show, not for judging)

March 1: deadline to submit literary and visual arts entries to MBJH, 3:00 pm

March 7: dress rehearsal at MBHS, time TBD

March 8: Art Forms Showcase at MBHS, 6:00 – 8:00 pm

 

Showcase Sneak Peek:

Each week, the Art Forms Committee will announce fun details on the 2019 Art Forms Showcase.

For a sneak peak at a few of our judges this year (there will be at least three judges for each category):

Literary arts judge: Jim Noles, internationally recognized and published author.

Performing arts judge: Amie Beth Dickinson Shaver, former Miss Alabama 1994.

Visual arts judge: Mark Valenta, Senior Creative Director at Adobe, San Francisco.
