Teacher Chosen as Ambassador
MBJH TEACHER SELECTED AS NATIONAL DESIGN THINKING AMBASSADOR
MOUNTAIN BROOK - Theresa Shadrix, English Language Arts and Media Arts: Broadcast Journalism instructor at Mountain Brook Junior High, has been selected as a national IDEO Teachers Guild “It Takes A Team” Ambassador.
In this role, Shadrix serves as a Design Thinking coach for teams who submitted ideas in the Teachers Guild “It Takes A Team” challenge. Shadrix and the Teachers Guild Ambassador team will guide 114 teams in the 14-week online challenge, which launched on January 29, 2019 with the Ideate phase. The Build phase opened the week of March 29, with voting on favorite ideas the week of April 2. The favorite ideas will be announced on The Teachers Guild website, www.teachersguild.org, the week of April 12.
On April 16-17, Shadrix and the team of ambassadors will gather at the IDEO office in San Francisco to reflect on challenge learnings, showcase the winning ideas, and plan and build teams around the winning ideas for them to be executed in the Fall of 2019.
Shadrix was one of 10 inaugural IDEO Teachers Guild Fellows for the 2017-2018 school year, becoming an expert in Design Thinking in the classroom. She has led Design Thinking workshops at the Mountain Brook Learning Conference, Jacksonville State University CORE Academy, Alabama Educational Technology Conference (AETC), and Piedmont City Schools.
