Final Four

After defeating Huffman, the number two team in the state according to maxpreps.com, the Spartans will take on Eufaula in the Final Four of the state tournament this Monday at 11:30 am at UAB.

Eufaula has a record of 29-5 with eight wins and no losses in area play. During the regular season, Eufaula defeated Hoover and Enterprise, ranked 6th and 17th in the state of Alabama respectively according to maxpreps.com, who ranks Eufaula as the number eleven team in the state. The Spartans and Eufaula have met once this season in November, with Mountain Brook winning 67-53 at Spartan arena.

Eufaula’s success has had a lot to do with their athleticism, great slashing, and invaluable three-point shooting. Coach Davis understands what the Spartans need to do in order to win.

To beat Eufaula we must defend very well and rebound better than any game this year. Offensively we must take care of the ball and continue to be unselfish and take great shots every possession,” Coach Davis said.

The Spartans have stretched their win streak to seventeen games now. After defeating the number one and number two team in the state back to back, the Spartans recognize they are capable of winning big games against great teams.

“It definitely boosts my confidence a whole lot, and the games against Oxford and Huffmanreally shows what our team can do in those situations. It proves that we can compete at that level and be very successful as well,” junior guard Sims Brown said.

Mountain Brook understands they need to stick to their roots in order to make it to the championship game.

“We must compete every possession and be disciplined for 32 minutes,” Coach Davis added.

If you are able to make this game, please go as the Spartans need all the support they can get against Eufaula.
