Monday, October 27, 2025 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education met Monday, October 20 at Cherokee Bend Elementary for the district’s monthly board meeting. Below is a rundown of the meeting:

Board Members present:  Jenifer Kimbrough, Anna Comer, Daniel Odrezin and Anne Schilleci.

Board Meeting Agenda

The meeting opened by approving minutes from the last board meeting.

Recognitions:

• Mountain Brook City Manager, Sam Gaston, was recognized for his 32 years of service to the City of Mountain Brook and dedicated partnership to the school district.
• Mountain Brook Schools was presented with a ‘system of distinction’ award by Cognia and Jeff Langham. We are just one of 35 institutions globally to receive this recognition.
• All of the MBHS National Merit Semifinalists were recognized.
• MBHS Homecoming Queen, Polly Albritton, was recognized.

Reports to the Board:

• Financial Statements for the month ending September 30, 2025 are not available due to the close of the fiscal year.
• Dr. Missy Brooks presented the 2025 Student Achievement Report which can be found by visiting our website.

• The board unanimously approved the latest personnel recommendations and unanimously approved miscellaneous items as surplus so that they can be discarded/donated/sold.
• The Superintendent Evaluation was delivered by Mrs. Kimbrough.
• Policy G-22 - Employee Conflicts of Interest, Policy G-13 - Professional Staff Development, Policy J-9 Attendance Ages, Policy J-37 - Disciplinary Policy for Students with Disabilities, Policy K-14 - Equipment Maintenance, Repair, Updating and Replacement, and  Policy J-5 Tobacco and Nicotine Free Campus Policy were all unanimously approved.
