Monday, November 17, 2025 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education met Monday, November 10 at Crestline Elementary for the district’s monthly board meeting. Below is a rundown of the meeting:

Board Members present:  Jenifer Kimbrough, Anna Comer, Jeffrey Brewer, Daniel Odrezin and Anne Schilleci.

Board Meeting Agenda

The meeting opened by approving minutes from the last board meeting.

Recognitions:

• The five MBHS students who received National Merit Commended Status were recognized.
• MBHS was recognized as a WiSE Platinum Star School which represents the highest level of excellence of students scoring at the top range of financial concepts and skills from W!se’s Financial Literacy Certification program.

Reports to the Board:

• Financial Statements were presented to the board from Chief School Financial Officer, Kari Austin.
• Amanda Hood, Director of Student Services, presented the board with an update on ALL IN Mountain Brook as well as an update on the development of the peer helpers program. Her presentation can be found here.

• The board unanimously approved the latest personnel recommendations.
• The Art Course of Study was tabled for community review and input until the December board meeting. That can be accessed by clicking here.
• Mrs. Anne Schilleci was selected to represent the MBS Board of Education as the AASB Delegate.

November announcements: 

• Thanksgiving Holidays - November 26-28, all schools and offices closed
• Community Movie Night- ELF - Mountain Brook High School / Thursday December 4, 2025 at 5:30 pm in Spartan Stadium
• Next Board Meeting - Monday, December 15th at 3:30 p.m. with work session at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain Brook Elementary School.
