Thomas Wins 3rd Straight District Spelling Bee

Mountain Brook Elementary student, Grace Thomas is a c-h-a-m-p-i-o-n once again. For the third straight year, Thomas has won the Mountain Brook Schools District Spelling Bee. This year’s bee featured five students who won their individual school (all MBS district schools represented except MBHS) and competed on Thursday morning for the opportunity to represent Mountain Brook at the Jefferson County Spelling Bee which will take place later in the semester.
Thomas spelled ‘coercive’ correctly in the ninth round to win the bee. Congratulations to all of the individual school champions and a big thanks to our judges, moderator and all those who attended and helped put on this year’s district bee!
School winners:
Jonathan Humphreys (Brookwood Forest Elementary)
Daniel Dowdle (Cherokee Bend Elementary)
Brooks Averitt (Crestline Elementary)
Grace Thomas (Mountain Brook Elementary)
