MBS Announces New Curriculum Specialist

Thursday, April 16, 2026 – Mountain Brook Assistant Director of Instruction, Lanie Kent, has announced her retirement effective this summer. Lanie has served in Mountain Brook Schools for 34 years as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, Assistant Principal and the district’s Assistant Director of Instruction.
“Lanie has done a tremendous job and had a hand in so many of the things that make our school system great from teaching to curriculum implementation and beyond,” Superintendent Dr. Dicky Barlow said. “ She will be missed in our office and around our schools and we wish her the absolute best in retirement.”
On Monday, April 13, the district’s Board of Education approved Lindsay Webster to serve as the next Curriculum Specialist. She will work in the Central Office in the Curriculum and Instruction department led by Dr. Missy Brooks. Webster, a Birmingham native, said she has admired Mountain Brook Schools for a long time.
“I have appreciated Mountain Brook’s people, excellence, and standards my entire professional career and am thrilled to now serve teachers in this district,” Webster said. “It’s no secret that Mountain Brook has the best educators and system and I am eager to get started. My role will be to do what I can to support teachers and connect with the staff. I love new experiences and challenges and I am excited to meet everyone.”
Lindsay is a National Board Certified Teacher who holds her Ed. S, from the University of Alabama. She currently works as an Instructional Specialist at Pelham City Schools.
