Marks Named Assistant Principal at MBHS

Tuesday, May 19, 2026 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education unanimously approved Shannon Marks as an Assistant Principal at Mountain Brook High School during Monday’s board meeting.
“I am so excited to step into this role,” Marks said. “I love this school community, our students, and my colleagues, and I couldn’t think of a better way to serve and support relationships in those three areas than to be an Assistant Principal here. I am eager to get started.”
Marks has worked as an English teacher at Mountain Brook High School since 2014 and has a total of 22 years in education. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and holds her Educational Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction and Masters in Secondary Education from UAB. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in English from Birmingham-Southern.
“Shannon will bring so much to the table as an Assistant Principal,” Lars Porter said. “Her knowledge of and care for our students and faculty members will positively contribute to the culture and continued success of MBHS.”
Shannon and her husband, Hank, live in the community and have two sons who attend Mountain Brook Schools.
