Wednesday, June 10, 2026 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education unanimously approved Sammye Davis as the next Assistant Principal at Brookwood Forest Elementary during Wednesday’s called board meeting.
"As I enter my 20th year as a member of the Forest family, I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our school community in this new role. I believe that supporting teachers, staff, and families requires recognizing and honoring their individual needs, perceptions, and growth trajectories,” Davis said. "I'm honored to work alongside Ashley Crossno as we continue building on the strong legacy of our past administration, and I look forward to strengthening the connections that make our school so special."
Davis taught in the classroom for 16 years at the kindergarten and first-grade levels and has spent the past four years as the BWF literacy coach. She also served as an adjunct instructor at UAB.
“We are so excited to have Sammye move into the role of assistant principal at BWF,” Principal Ashley Crossno said. “She has been an important part of our Family in the Forest for many years, and we can't wait to see all of the ways she will continue to lead our faculty and support our Rangers in her new role.”
Davis is a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College and later obtained her Master's of Education from Lesley University, her National Board certification, and her Instructional Leadership degree from Samford University.
Sammye and her husband Doug have one daughter and live in the Trussville community.

Wednesday, June 10, 2026 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education unanimously approved Kristi Moncrief as an Assistant Principal at Mountain Brook Junior High during Wednesday’s called board meeting.
“I am excited to serve alongside the dedicated team at MBJH,” Moncrief said. “Eleven years at Brookwood Forest and opportunities to serve across the district have allowed me to experience the heart of Mountain Brook Schools. Because of those experiences, this move feels like coming home. The opportunity to support students as they come together from all of our elementary schools for the first time as Spartans makes this next chapter especially meaningful. It is a pivotal time in their educational journey, and I am honored to be part of it.”
Moncrief joins Derek Kennedy (Principal), Brook Gibbons (Assistant Principal), and Preston Sanford (Assistant Principal) as a part of the MBJH administrative team. Previously, she was the Lead Special Education Teacher at Brookwood Forest from 2014-2025 before spending this past school year as the Special Education Program Specialist in Homewood City Schools.

In her previous role as a special education lead teacher and program specialist, Kristi developed deep expertise in creating inclusive learning environments and implementing evidence-based strategies that help students thrive both academically and personally. Her genuine love for students and commitment to their growth shine through in everything she does. We look forward to having Kristi bring her content knowledge, instructional insights, and passion for student achievement to our junior high community.”
