Monday, June 15, 2026 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education met Monday, May 18 at the Mountain Brook Board of Education for the district’s monthly board meeting. Below is a rundown of the meeting:

Board Members present: Jenifer Kimbrough, Jeffrey Brewer, Daniel Odrezin and Anne Schilleci.

Election of Officers:

• Jenifer Kimbrough was elected Board of Education President for the 2026-2027 school year.
• Anna Comer was elected Board of Education Vice President for the 2026-2027 school year.

The meeting opened by approving minutes from the last board meeting.

Recognitions:

• No recognitions this month

Reports to the Board:

• Financial Statements and cash balances were presented to the board from Chief School Financial Officer, Kari Austin.
• Austin then presented the FY 26 1st and final budget amendment.
• Tommy Prewitt, MBS Facilities Director, provided an update on summer construction projects which include bathroom renovations as well as lighting and flooring upgrades across select schools

Old Business

• The 2026-2027 Mountain Brook Schools board meeting calendar was approved.

 

New Business

• The board unanimously approved the latest personnel recommendations and various items as surplus to be discarded properly.
• The 2026-2027 Mountain Brook Schools salary schedule was approved.
