Tuesday, September 15, 2026 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education met Monday, September 14 at the Mountain Brook Board of Education for the district’s monthly board meeting. Below is a rundown of the meeting:

Board Members present: Jenifer Kimbrough, Daniel Odrezin, Anne Schilleci and Will Davis

Board Meeting Agenda

The meeting opened by approving minutes from the last board meeting.

Recognitions:

• MBS Director of Student Services, Amanda Hood, was recognized for being awarded the ‘Statewide School Safety Partnership Award’ by TAASRO over the summer.

Reports to the Board:

• Dr. Barlow presented the annual enrollment report to the board members. Enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year totals 4,425 students across the district.
• The Student Achievement Report was presented by MBS Director of Teaching and Learning, Dr. Missy Brooks.
• The financial statements and cash balances were presented to the board from Chief School Financial Officer, Kari Austin.
• Austin then held the FY 2027 2nd budget hearing meeting and with no public comment from the first meeting, the FY 2027 budget was approved.

Old Business

• The AP Statistics curriculum framework was approved. That can be seen on the website by clicking here.

 

New Business

• The board unanimously approved the latest personnel recommendations and various items as surplus to be discarded properly.
• The board tabled the AP English 11 textbook material for community review and input for 1 month. Click here to view.
