October Board Meeting Recap

Thursday, October 22, 2026 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education met Monday, October 19 at Cherokee Bend Elementary for the district’s monthly board meeting. Below is a rundown of the meeting:

Board Members present: Jenifer Kimbrough, Anna Comer, Daniel Odrezin, Anne Schilleci and Will Davis

Board Meeting Agenda

The meeting opened by approving minutes from the last board meeting.

Recognitions:

• The 16 MBHS students who received National Merit Semifinalist accolades were recognized! Click here to read more about these students.

Reports to the Board:

• The financial statements and cash balances were not presented to the board due to the end of the fiscal year 2026. 
• Dr. Missy Brooks presented the board with information recapping the 2026 Summer Learning achievements from our faculty and staff district-wide. She reported that over 10,600 hours of professional development was achieved by our staff district-wide during the end of May through early August.
• Amanda Hood presented the board members with an update on the ALL IN Mountain Brook Parent Conference which recently took place and featured nine different sessions made up of students, teachers, administrators, local professionals and community members who all shared their expertise with hundreds of MBS parents.

Old Business

• The AP English 11 textbook material was approved.

New Business

• The board unanimously approved the latest personnel recommendations and various items as surplus to be discarded properly.
• The board recommended that Will Davis be appointed as the AASB Delegate for the 2026-27 school year.

• Miss Olympian Pageant - Saturday, November 14, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. - Mountain Brook High School
• Next Board Meeting - Monday, November 9th, 2026 at 3:30 p.m. with work session at 2:00 p.m./ Crestline Elementary School
