Tuesday, February 10, 2026 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education met Monday, February 9 at Mountain Brook High School for the district’s monthly board meeting. Below is a rundown of the meeting:

Board Members present: Jenifer Kimbrough, Anna Comer, and Anne Schilleci.

Board Meeting Agenda

The meeting opened by approving minutes from the last board meeting.

Recognitions:

• 2025-2026 District Spelling Bee Participants were recognized for their participation in the District Bee and also winning their local school bee. Click here to read more about these five students.
• All State Choir students were recognized for their recent success in the state choral competition.
• The MBHS Dorians were recognized for winning their third consecutive national championship!
• The girls indoor track team was recognized for winning the 6A Indoor Track state championship trophy! This marks the 25th girls indoor track title in program history and the third championship in the past four years.
• MBHS Principal, Carrie Busby, was recognized as she was recently named the Alabama Educational Theatre Association’s Administrator of the Year!

Reports to the Board:

• Financial Statements and cash balances were presented to the board from Chief School Financial Officer, Kari Austin.

• The board unanimously approved the latest personnel recommendations and various items as surplus to be discarded properly.
• The 2028-2029 Academic Calendar was tabled for committee review and input.
• Arts Education and Social Studies Material Adoption were both tabled for community review and input.
